2A: Our Second Act

We love Milwaukee. We love great wine and great food. We love meeting new people, seeing old friends, and finding just about any excuse to bring people together.  And that is really how our story with 2A began.

When Tony Bisciglia opened 2A Wine Merchants in Milwaukee's Third Ward, he created something special. Yes, it was a place to find an amazing bottle of wine from somewhere around the world, but it quickly became much more than a wine shop.

It was a place to stop in for a glass, discover something new, ask questions, meet a winemaker, learn about a region you had never explored, and somehow end up talking to the people sitting next to you.

For us, it also happened to be close to home.

So we came often.We drank a lot of great wine here, learned a lot about wine here, and - maybe most importantly - we made a lot of friends here.

Before long, 2A felt like our place.  That is what we have always loved most about it.

Now It's Time for 2A's Second Act

When Tony decided it was time to pass the torch, the four of us, Matt and Heather Kohls and Matt and Stacy Waltz, had the opportunity to think about what 2A could become.

The answer was actually pretty simple: Keep everything we love about it and add a little of us.

We love the vision Tony created.  We love the curiosity around wine, the hospitality, the incredible producers, and especially the idea that great wine doesn't need to feel intimidating or complicated.

We want to carry that vision forward.

We don't see this as starting over. We see it as the next chapter of something we already love.

Or, appropriately enough, 2A's Second Act.
